A Guide To Husqvarna Tillers

   (Read 500+ times)
By Patricia Wainwright

What is a tiller used for?

A garden tiller is also known as a rototiller or cultivator, and it helps turn over soil in a bed, prior to planting, until the soil is well aerated and finely tilled. It basically prepares the soil and takes a lot of the backbreaking work out of digging over and sifting. Depending on the size of your garden, and the nature of your soil, there are two basic types of tiller, a front tine tiller which is fine for small gardens and lighter sandy soil, or a rear tine tiller which you would need for the large garden, or where you have to deal with heavy clay, or compacted soil. Husqvarna tillers have a tiller for all gardens and all budgets.

Types of Husqvarna tiller available

One sort of yard tiller is the rear tine tiller. On a rear tine tiller, the digging tines, the sharp prongs that cut into the ground, are behind the wheels and sometimes are counter-rotating tines. You need power in your tiller if you have heavy soil, so the engine cc rating is important, the higher the rating, the more powerful the machine, the better it will cope with heavy soil. The front tine tillers have the tines at the front, under the wheels. There are many different Husqvarna tillers for sale, ranging from front tine models costing between $399 to a high-specification $899 or rear tine models costing from $599 to $749, although dealers will sell them for less than the manufacturers' prices. In addition, there are ridger, dethatcher and edger attachments you can add to their top end model.

What do reviewers say about Husqvarna tillers?

To identify the technical features of Husqvarna tillers you can check out the company website, but that will not tell you what they are like in action. To find out the capability of these machines, reading Husqvarna tiller reviews will give you a better idea of what their users think of them. One of the best rated tillers is the Husqvarna DRT900, mostly because it is both a forward rotating cultivator and counter rotating deep soil tiller. It has a rating of 4.7 out of 5, and the highlights are that this is an easy tiller to use, maneuverable, quieter than other models on the market, and ergonomically better designed than many tillers due to its vertically adjustable handlebar and agricultural tires, giving it excellent grip. Husqvarna tillers take the top spot in bestselling power tillers in their price bracket, and outperform cheaper tillers also, quality being worth the price. If you do buy a Husqvarna tiller, you will not have any problems with maintenance as husqvarna tiller parts are readily available from a number of outlets, but for guarantees always choose an authorized dealer and service center.
