Fall is a great time for doing gardening. It's not too hot, and yet, it isn't too cold either. For these ideal weather conditions you need some ideal flowering bulb ideas for your garden. Most bulbs will grow just about anywhere in your garden. Some of them will usually describe on the package if they are best suited to a particular area, such as, shady, or sun areas.
- Amaryllis - Black Pearl -
The Black Pearl Amaryllis has a beautiful dark maroon color to it's flowers. The flowers are huge, sometimes being, 8 inches wide, with long stems. They can grow to be 16-18 inches in height. These will flower during November - January. They will need average, well drained soil, to suit their fast growth rate.
- Foxtail Lily - Mixed Colors -
If you want to add a wealth of color to your garden, then planting these bulbs will certainly do the trick. They are a fast growing multi-colored flower, that will grow to be around 24-34 inches in height. Their tall spiked flowers are made up of lots of little lily shaped flowers.
- Phlox - Hardy Tall - Miss Holland -
These have white flowers with a red center. They grow in an upright position, and the flowers form clusters. They are 24 - 36 inches at the height of maturity. The bloom time is June-September.
- Iris - Eye of the Tiger -
There are many different types of Iris, but these have got to one of the best types. It has electric dark purple flowers. Blooms in late spring to early summer, for around 3 weeks. These are easily grown in any area of the garden, and usually animals aren't attracted to them.
- Oriental Poppy - Brilliant -
The vibrant, brilliant red color of these poppies are a delilght to see. The blooms are scarlet red with black markings. They flower in May-June each year, and can grow to 3 feet tall.
- Lily - Spider - Pink Magic -
One of the prettiest types of lily, out of the many different varieties. Rose-lilac colored flowers with 24 inch stems. They grow in full sun to partial shade, in average drained soil.
These are just a few ideas for what I think are lovely flowers to plant during the Fall season. Planting bulbs is easy, and not too expensive, and these selection will also come up year after year giving you great blooms every time.
