Christmas Gifts for Your Favorite Gardener©

   (Read 50+ times)
By Arlene Wright Correll

As we approach each Christmas we try to think of things to give to our friends and family members on our annual Christmas list. We have a double list which contains not only their names, but their hobby or special interests and often times we find one or more of them are gardeners.

Basically there are some simple things to give them such as a gardening book providing you make sure they have not all ready purchased the particular one you decide to choose. The safest thing would be a card containing a gift card from a bookstore in their community. Make sure your card contains a sentiment stating you hope they will use the card to buy the gardening book they have been meaning to get for themselves.

If you favorite gardener happens to like roses then how about a gift certificate from some of the better rose suppliers?

When your budget is tight consider giving your favorite gardener a personalized gift card that states this card is good for 4 or 5 hours of weeding or any kind of work in their garden and make sure you add your phone number and tell them to call it when they need help. Believe it or not this will truly be a welcomed gift.

Should you happen to be a crafter type person then consider making some lovely gardening stakes that say things like Rosemary, Thyme, etc and attach them together with a package of each type of seed as named on the stakes you have created. The local dollar store in our area had some nice packages of metal stakes that were six in a package for $1.00 and the local gardening center had the herb seeds I needed for around $1.49 each and I was able to create some great garden gifts for about $10.00 each.

Should you know of anyone who is always buying stuff for their garden then consider buying a variety of bulbs in your local garden center during the fall and making up a small basket and giving an “early” Christmas present to that person on your list. If they live away from you then a gift certificate for bulbs from a good bulb supplier would be a handy and must appreciative gift.

For those who are not gardeners and should you be a prolific gardener who has a successful flower or vegetable garden each season then perhaps you might create your own personalized gift card stating this card is redeemable for some of your vegetables or flowers each week for four weeks. This indeed is a generous and thoughtful gift and is an easy gift to give to a nearby friend or neighbor. You just have to make a reminder for yourself to drop off the gifts each season when the flowers or vegetables are ready and will be a well received gift that extends way beyond the holiday season.

These gifts will truly be from the heart.

“Tread the Earth Lightly” and in the meantime… May your day be filled with…
Peace, Light and Love,
