Compost Caddy For A Most Livable Kitchen

   (Read 500+ times)
By Patricia Wainwright

Who says that a caddy is only for a game of golf? There is a valuable composting and kitchen equipment rolled into one called a compost caddy. It also goes by the name of either a compost crock or a compost pail. At the outset, it can look like a mere glorified trash can to you - but really, it is so much more and its benefits are priceless.

Benefits of the Compost Caddy

A compost caddy is really an accessory to your compost bin or tumbler. It keeps your compostable food scraps inside the kitchen for days until the caddy is filled; without emitting odor or attracting flies and other insects to feast on them. Afterwards, the contents of the compost caddy can directly be poured into your composting pile, bin, or tumbler.

The charcoal filters of the caddy prevents odor from escaping into your kitchen or house. The filters are replaceable up to a period of 3 to 4 months. The tight-fitting lids blocks and discourages the possible invasion of insects, thus preserving sanitation and not endangering the health of the family members. The handles of the kitchen compost caddy allows you ease in transporting it to the composting area.

Compost Crock versus a Compost Pail

There is a thin line separating the compost crock and the compost pail even if each one of these is a compost caddy or a kitchen compost caddy and therefore have the same purpose. The compost crock is usually smaller and more decorative - it is meant to be displayed right on top of your kitchen counter top, like a cookie jar. The designs are imaginative and the colors are varied. There is even a compost crock shaped like big, red, and shiny apple. Compost crocks are usually made of ceramics, but there are also ones made of stoneware and stainless steel.

Compost pails usually have a one gallon capacity but there are smaller ones that can also be put on the kitchen counter top. Most compost pails are made of stainless steel but there are also ones made of stoneware, plastic, and even of bamboo. They look like pails - but artistically designed ones and with wide color choices.

Both types of compost caddy have the same features of being lined with odor-killing filters, tight lids, handles for easy transport and compostable bags inside the compost caddy.

Garland Compost Caddy

The Garland compost caddy has been one of the most superior and innovative brands of compost caddy in the market. Their compost caddies are mostly made of polypropylene, a plastic polymer whose high melting point ensures that the dishwasher will not warp them. The Garland compost caddy comes in mini, regular and jumbo sizes of different capacities. They also have activated carbon filters for the effective containment of odors and biodegradable or compostable bags.

Transform your kitchen into a compost caddy kitchen now. Get a compost caddy now and make meal time preparation a truly rewarding experience.
