With a bit of effort and goodwill it is possible to dispose of garden waste in an environmentally friendly manner. Rather than dumping garden waste in the shape of greenery, old garden furniture and even garden-grown fruit or vegetables in your home trash can which is all too easy, consider recycling and other friendlier ways to dispose of your garden waste. Greenery such as grass and weeds can be recycled, while garden furniture and hard waste can be safely disposed of using your local authority.
Disposing Of Garden Waste In An Environmentally Friendly Means:
1. Local Authority - Biodegradable waste in the shape of grass, weeds and leaves could be collected by your local authority. You will need to store your biodegradable waste in dedicated bins or black bags and get in touch with your local authority regarding collection times and procedures. You should also ask for a list of permitted waste which could be collected and recycled as this will change from state to state.
2. Garden Composting - Composting greenery such as garden-grown fruit or vegetables is an inexpensive, natural process that transforms your garden waste into a valuable and nutrient rich food for your garden. Although composting greenery is an environmentally friendly manner to dispose of some waste, it requires space and therefore not recommended for everyone. Selected kitchen waste could be added to the composting effort thereby making it even friendlier to the environment.
3. Certified Local Dumpsters - Most local authorities will operate certified dumping grounds where you are able to safely dispose of the hard waste such as garden furniture or even old garden decking. There is constant progress in terms of recycling technologies, therefore hard waste which is carefully sorted and stored could one day be recycled. Consider the implications on the environment and only dump your hard waste where you are permitted to do so.
Recycling helps the environment because it conserves resources, saves energy and reduces landfill, while waste which could not be recycled and is disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner thereby conserving resources and could possibly be recycled one day...
