Garden Landscaping Design Ideas

   (Read 500+ times)
By Patricia Wainwright

If your garden is a bit run down or in dire need of a face lift, take a couple of minutes to read this article, which will give you a few garden landscaping design ideas that you can put into practice yourself, without spending too much money, that will completely transform your garden. These garden landscaping design ideas are just meant as an example of how you can transform you garden on a budget, with minimum work and hassle. Enjoy!

Water works!

Any corner of your garden can take a fresh, new look if you just add a bit of water to it. Adding water to your list of garden landscaping design ideas is not difficult to do. The simplest thing you can do is get an old, sturdy planter, if it is made of cement or stone, all the better, and place it somewhere prominent. Cover the drainage hole with cement and once it is dry, fill it with water. Voila! Your own water feature! Plant some colorful plants, such as rudbeckias, around your new water feature, and get some floating plants for the water if you wish. This will add a rustic touch to your garden, as well as attract birds and other wildlife.

Sculptures!

Other garden landscaping design ideas you can try include installing objects such as sculptures, which will add to the charm without taking too much space. A sculpture can be made of metal, wood or stone, but no matter what material it is made of, it can help break the monotony when placed among the bushes in your garden. Visit your garden center for ideas about sculptures you can use, but you can also use other objects that you can have at home, to create the same impression... an old wheelbarrow, an old-fashioned watering can or even a no-longer-used iron lantern can work. There are a lot of different types of sculptures, in a wide variety of styles. It is just a question of looking around!

Structure it!

Another of the garden landscaping design ideas I would like to share is using pergolas. It is not difficult to imbue a corner of your garden with a totally different atmosphere by placing a pergola, or any similar structure. Also, if you have the time, this can be achieved by using the plants themselves. Something as simple as an arch made of plastic or iron can take on a completely different appearance if densely covered with innumerable fragrant roses. Get your structure up, get some climbing plants near it and place a couple of seats under it, and you will achieve an old-style look that will inspire you to relax and take a few moments to enjoy your garden.

As you can see, not all garden landscaping design ideas include heavy work. A little touch here or there can really do the difference, helping your garden take on a completely new look with very few elements. It is just a question of placing these elements around the garden appropriately, without overdoing it and achieving a balance.
