Night Blooming Jasmine Plant
Officially named as Cestrum Nocturnum, the Night blooming Jasmine plant is delicate and fragrant that can make any gardens pleasing to your sense of smell.
Common Names: Night Blooming Cestrum, Night Blooming Jasmine.
Family Name: Solanaceae (from Nightshade Family)
Plant Description: Night Blooming Jasmine is similar to shrubs— its leaves are green and smooth, while its stems are larger at 4 to 8 inches in length. They can grow and form a mound as large as 12 feet. Throughout the warm weather, the gardens are deigned with their blooms, which are small and green to white in color.
Although the flowers are delicate and beautiful, they are not the gardener’s favorite. However, nobody can ignore their scent—sweet and strong. As soon as flowers come off of their stems, berries, in brilliant white shade, emerge.

Culture Needs: Night Jasmine plant does not give any gardener a hard time in cultivating. For starters, it needs light, and loose and sandy soil. It cannot survive salty soil or water. Also, it does not favor frost, although it can adapt to its surrounding once settled.
Landscape Usage: since frost is a hindrance, Night Blooming Jasmine is perfect for borders. It is also among the favorites for landscaping, freestanding plant, and background plant. Its flowers, besides its sweet fragrance are what the butterflies flock around the gardens. Jasmine does not consume much of the garden area.
Pros: Night Blooming Jasmine is an attractive plant that makes it ideal for any gardening circumstances. Its fragrance can make anybody stop and savor it. To make it grow healthily, it needs little care. During winter, it dies to the ground as it cannot survive colder climates. However, this humble plant grows back to life come spring season.
It grows best in tropical climate such as zones 8 to 11. Growing Night Bloom Jasmine is easy. Its sprout can grow quickly, while its seed or herbaceous stem cuttings can propagate it.
Cons: Fist of all, Night Blooming Jasmine is poisonous from roots to its leaves, flowers and berries. Moreover, it prefers direct sunlight or filtered exposure. Although it thrives on shaded areas, it grows best when it is satisfyingly exposed to sunlight. Watering is appreciated but in scanty amount
Night Blooming Jasmine needs 4 to 6 feet of space to reach its full growth and size. Its maximum height is ten feet. However, for landscaping, this plant easily heeds trimming.
