Raised Bed Kits

   (Read 500+ times)
By Patricia Wainwright

One way of designing a garden is to make use of raised bed kits. Costing from $20 to upwards of $100, raised bed kits for gardens is a smart investment. Raised bed kits are relatively movable so it would be relatively easy to undo mistakes and accommodate changes.

Having raised bed kits can also eliminate unnecessary bending and provides convenience and comfort in planting, tending and harvesting. Studies show that there are also a number of advantages from using raised bed kits. A dramatic increase in your vegetable, flower and herb production can be expected with increases being as much as double to that of standard or traditional gardening. Other benefits of using raised bed kits include improvement in soil conditions, reduction on weeding, water conservation and removal of pests.

The main differences between cheap raised bed kits and expensive kits are the quality of the materials used and finish. One of the things to consider when purchasing a kit is space. The most common shapes of these kits are rectangular or triangular because these types do not eat up a lot of space in the garden. When it comes to choosing the size, you have to ensure that all parts of the raised bed are reached without stepping on the plants.

With regard to the designs, one can choose from a variety of raised bed kits. The most popular ones are the wooden raised bed kits or the timber raised bed kits. This is because these kits are generally more eye-catching and have a more conventional appearance. They also provide a sturdy and durable raised bed area for vegetable gardeners. However, since these kits make use of timber, you should consider wooden components that are treated with high pressure non-toxic preservatives. This is to ensure that the raised beds will have the best possible resistance to fungal decay and wood-boring insects

Another example are raised flower bed kits which are convenient and requires low-maintenance methods of growing huge quantities of flowers in small spaces for a minimal amount of topsoil.

Plastic raised bed kits are simple and easy to build. Since the raised beds are made of light materials or plastic, the beds are easy to move and handle and are generally low maintenance. Thus, this type of kit is ideal for busy people. There are lots of choices for raised bed kits but the essential factors to consider when buying one is to make sure that a particular kit will help you maximize your garden space, achieve the look that you plan to have and ensure that your plants are always in perfect condition.
