Toro Drip Irrigation

   (Read 500+ times)
By Patricia Wainwright

Toro drip irrigation kits and supplies have been available to professional landscapers for years. Those kits are now available to homeowners also. To make the project even easier, Toro drip irrigation parts and supplies are color coded to indicate which of the three steps it is associated with. In addition to saving as much of 70% in water usage a homeowner can now follow the instructions provided by Toro with their drip irrigation products and install the systems themselves. Detailed instructions are available from Toro with their parts as well as with the kits that include all the necessary parts. All the different watering needs of plants in a landscape can be addressed with drip irrigation watering in ways that benefit both the plant and the gardener.

The purpose of drip irrigation is to apply moisture to the plants directly to their root system at a rate that they can absorb it at. This method of water delivery prevents many diseases that are caused by water on foliage as well as reducing the amount of weeding required when broadcast watering systems are used. The Toro drip irrigation system is a tried and true system that makes the installation and using simple and easy to do. All of the products previously available to professional landscapers and contractors can be purchased by individuals to implement in their planters, walkways, flower beds and vegetable gardens to deliver the right amount of water where it is needed. Toro’s parts list and packaging is color coded and bears the number corresponding with Toro’s three easy steps for Toro drip irrigation systems.

The three Toro drip irrigation installation steps are first to connect to the water source which parts packaging is colored yellow, followed by step two parts which are packaged with the color green and the third step products, water the plants, indicated by the color blue on its packaging. Due to the color coding system a glance at the packaging will show a person where the component fits into the scheme of the Toro drip irrigation system. Connection products involved in step one include battery operated hose-end timer, outlet distribution manifold, anti-siphon valve kit ¾”, drip in-line valve kit 1” and a water source installation kit. The green step 2 Toro drip irrigation products include lengths of ½ and ¼ inch tubing with in-line emitters, stakes, tees, clamps, hole plugs, tubing cutters and hole punches. The water delivery parts list includes the different emitters, stream jets, and foggers. Toro drip irrigation kits include a half inch emitter kit, a quarter inch fitting and emitter kit and a drip starter kit. The kits make the installation of the different sections of the drip irrigation system easier than purchasing the parts separately.

In these days of do-it-yourself projects, the Toro drip irrigation system is one of the easiest projects homeowner can take on. A few hours spent planning and installing drip irrigation in their landscape can make life easier for years to come.
